In cannabis growing, it determines how much usable light energy is available for photosynthesis. Intensity is commonly measured using metrics such as PPFD, which quantifies photosynthetically active radiation reaching the canopy.

Adequate light intensity is essential for healthy vegetative growth and robust flower production. During the vegetative stage, moderate intensity supports steady structural development. In the flowering stage, increased intensity can promote denser bud formation and improved yield potential when managed properly.
